Get a teacher
Agree 100%. It's one thing to learn from books and try to self teach, but books cannot give you all the tips and tricks that an experienced teacher can. It took me years and lots of trial and error to get down fret hand muting for example (in the era before there was a youtube video for everything). If I'd found a good teacher, they probably would have set me on the right path much sooner.

et a teacher
This is a hurdle for me. I want a dude that I would hang out with for a teacher. Meaning, I don't want a 21 year old kid who can shred. Reminding me of my ill spent youth. I want a 35-40 year old guy.

Don't write off teachers using Skype for lessons. The guy I'm learning bluegrass flatpicking from is in North Carolina, and I've never seen him in person. Our Skype lessons are very productive.

Bet they'll have just what you want or know where to contact him.

The guy from the Country Song Teacher channel isn't the greatest teacher. He is good to find chords to a song you'd like to play, but that is about it. His strumming patterns are always sporatic and he cannot sing in key.
Learn Guitar Favorites Channel
This guy is nice and slow. He is also geared around country music and is a very consistent guitarist. Check him out.
kirbyscovers
Every genre you can think of here. Kirby is a fantastic acoustic guitar player, teacher, and knows everything about music. His YouTube videos are "covers", so he is not going to walk you through the song step by step. His website ( kirbysguitarlessons) provides his personal tabs/chords for each song, free to download. Also, he does an true in-depth lesson for every song he uploads to YouTube, but they cost a few bucks.
ETA: Also check out Six String Country and Ryan Kimm.
Ryan has some great intro level stuff.
