“Telling corporate radio to shove it”

Then proceeds to play Florida Georgia Line. This is a decent station for North Houston but they’re extremely inconsistent. They’ll play Colter Wall then turnaround and play Luke Bryan. Give us 100% Red Dirt/Americana like the Ranch! Yes, I listen to the ranch on the app but it sure would be nice to get a station locally that plays 100% of the genre like other stations across Texas do.

The market is there. DO IT.

Maybe they do it because the market isn’t there

I live in North DFW and listen to the Ranch all the time. There is also a Texas Red Dirt Radio station on iHeartRadio that's pretty solid. I would have to believe there is a market there in Houston.

If the market isn’t there then why are the concerts packed when these artists play the area? It’s Texas. There’s definitely a market for it.

The outlaw out of Wichita Falls is solid. They’re on iheart too. The ranch is hands down the best though. Their coverage of the NFR in Fort Worth was great too!

I listened to KStar when I was driving through last weekend. I can see what you're saying. I think the reasoning is that they have to play something that the fringe/only-mainstream-listener knows. The Ranch 106.9 out of Corsicana (owned by the same company that owns the Ranch 95.9 in FW) used to be just Texas/red dirt. About four years ago they started incorporating a few mainstream songs as well. Still a good listen but not as good as 95.9
