Here's a great radio show (podcasts available) out of WWNO devoted to that sort of thing:
LINK ]American Routes

American Routes explores the shared and individual musical threads that contribute to the great diversity of American culture, from blues to Cajun, Tejano to jazz, country to soul and all the stops in between.

The reason I asked if anyone listens is because I am trying to find out a blues tune I heard twice on the station. I have.called the station and looked up the main line in the song on the internet. No luck. My guess is the name of the song is " I was born in the country before I moved to Baton Rouge".

whatever the format, it had to beat fricking KQXL putting the Soul Train Theme on repeat back in the day.

It is available on an app called SIMPLE RADIO. Station has a very weak signal. They broadcast local high school football games. The quality of the football broadcasts is so bad, that it is undescribable.

Did a quick search. Sounds like him, but didn't see the song. Who knows, could have a different title to song. I will put him on YouTube next time I am on treadmill and let it switch from one song to the next. He has a great blues voice. Thanks for the tip.

It's hard to get because of the weak broadcast, but I enjoy when I can get it.

Can't believe it doesn't reach baton rouge....

I talked to a station engineer on the phone. He said something to the effect that it's closeness on the dial to the Swaggert station limits its output signal.

The engineer also said it has a directional signal that goes as far west as Bunkie. I enjoy the exposure to different types of music the station gives me.
