I'm looking to buy my wife a decent keyboard. Her piano got destroyed in the floods, and she misses playing, but she doesn't want a big piece of furniture. She doesn't perform, she just plays for herself.
The requirements are that it has 88 keys and feels and sounds like a real piano. Preferably has a pedal. Anything else is extra.
Is Yahama still a good brand?

I have a Yamaha P120, it was around $800.00, the feel of the keyboard is very close to the real thing, it sounds pretty good through the internal speakers, but the sound will never be like the real thing.
I have also played a few of the Casios that are available now for around $400.00 and they also seem pretty decent. You will also need to add the cost of a keyboard stand and possibly a bench to your budget, maybe another $150.00.

Check for a used Yamaha P-series. I wouldn’t go further back than the 200’s, but you should be able to score something between the 200, 250 or even CP300 within your range.
They’re rugged and sound & feel very authentic with the graded hammer action. There’s also nice sounding stereo speakers, so no need for external amps and they help it feel more like a real piano.
