Which are your favorite and why?

Pat Martino - Live at Yoshi's
John Coltrane - Giant Steps / A Love Supreme
Allan Holdsworth - Secrets & Wardenclyffe Tower
John McLaughlin - After the rain
Wes Montgomery - Impressions: The Verve Jazz Sides
Miles Davis - A kind of blue
Being a guitarist - I, of course, always love hearing the guitar players in this genre. The skill level is pretty insane.

In no particular order
Miles Davis A Kind of Blue
Lee Morgan The Sidewinder
Grant Green Idle Moments
Wes Montgomery The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery
Dave Brubeck Time Out
Stan Getz Jao Gilberto Getz Gilberto
Michel LeGrand LeGrand Jazz
I'm leaving off a bunch including some of the greatest jazz artists of all time and I didn't really touch on the vocal stuff at all. I don't know that I know enough about music to have a discussion why these are some of my favorites, other than the fact that I like the way they sound and it makes me feel good to sit and listen to them.

Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vaguard
Ornette Coleman - Free Jazz
Jaco Pastorius - s/t
Miles Davis All Stars - Walkin
Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch!
John Coltrane - Ascension
I love Bill Evans and that is his greatest. Also a big fan of jazz bass players, with much love for Scott LaFaro particullarly, and his work on Sunday is his best. Big fan of free jazz, Ornette and Coltrane put out the definitive works in that genre.

If it has Miles Davis or John Coltrane on it, probably all good....

John McLaughlin - After the rain
That's a great album. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert on that tour. His next album The Promise is also excellent. It's like a retrospective of the different styles he'd played in over the years. Great production with a lot of variety.

I'm a fan of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. You can't go wrong exploring the works of these two legends. My favorite album is Relaxin' With The Miles Davis Quintet.
Why? It's the perfect album to listen to when you
drink a bottle of your favorite wine.
eat your favorite meal.
have in the background while conversing with friends.
are driving on a road trip in nasty winter weather.
are entertaining a date.
are just having a quiet evening at home.
