The lovely ingenue Jane Monheit, two-time Grammy nominee, played in NOLA last night and she was fantastic. The Jazz Market is quickly becoming one of my favorite music venues.
Monheit arrived late due to her flight. The band was still in the air while I was enjoying my pre show meal at GW Fins. Show time was 7:30, she didn’t arrive until 6:40. The show started only ten minutes late, so kudos for getting it all together so quickly. Her set was loose and free flowing, playing all of the Christmas classics in her unique style. Her band was tight and precise, with many virtuosic solos to be had.
