iTunes Question: HELP

I've had songs on my iTunes forever and have never had a problem until recently and now when I click to play them a "!" appears next to them and it will not play the song. I don't get it. They work on my iPhone but will not play on my computer. Even a recently added album that i just download will not play some songs. I must have 500+ songs with this problem. Going back to download them would be a pain in the arse.
Why does it do this? Is it because I haven't updated my iTunes with the latest update?

Did you move the files to a different folder? I've run into this problem before when I moved all my music to an external HD. Had to clear my whole library and re-add them. Pissed me off to high heaven. I fricking hate iTunes with every cell in my body

itunes is terrible. You will repay for songs over and over.

It's the location of the files. You must have moved them.

I've used itunes for years and never repaid for a song

Not anymore. You can redownload everything youve ever purchased for free with the latest version of iTunes
