I think Kenny Loggins is the CEO of Yacht Rock.

His writing and partnership with McDonald brought about those sounds. McDonald signs back up on a lot of those tunes.

Yeah, Cross, McDonald, and Loggins are very much a big three on solo artists. Hall and Oates and Steely Dan are up there as far as bands. Little River Band "Reminiscing" is a quintessential yacht rock song.

Songs like "Dreams" and "Everywhere" are very Yacht Rockish. But, I know Fleetwood Mac has a harder side.

If somebody said they were yacht rock, I'd be like, "yeah, OK, sure."

If somebody said they were not yacht rock, I'd be like, "yeah, OK, sure."

When the songs were actually released in the 70s and 80s, we classified them as soft rock or easy listening. All the elements of rock music but with a softer presentation.

The Yacht rock label caught on and replaced the soft rock label around the late 90s and early 2000s.
