Anyone else a fan of the #1 Hot New Band?

Just finished the first listen through. A lot darker sounding than a lot of their prior work with the same heavy themes. You can hear the maturing in their sound with this album.

Favorites so far are:

Moving to Bed Bug Island
It Smells Like Fudge Axe in Here
Monica Lewinskidibi
Monster Burger and a $5 Beer
This Makes Me Yucky (not really a song)
Slumdog Scunggillionaire

I haven't listened to the new album yet, but I'm a big fan after seeing them live in 2022. "Equip Sunglasses" is my favorite song by them. I also really enjoy "How do You Know It's Not Armadillo Shells", "I Fell in Love With Princess Peach", and "Gans Retro Games". Their singer's vocal delivery is crazy. It sounds so unique and painful. I often catch myself in rehearsals trying (and failing) to imitate it.

Are they a hot new band?

Their previous album was the first of theirs I've liked. I'll listen to this one.

Their upcoming tour is crazy. Drug Church is opening. Also has Arm's Length and Anxious. 3 rising pop punk bands and the "old man" alternative/post-hardcore group. Might go.

They’re up and comers for sure. But I don’t see them having enough pop sensibility to go truly mainstream.

That’s their branding tagline. They’ve been around enough to not be “new” but for sure still growing some hype. Feels like every month on Spotify I see their monthly listeners increase.
