HIck Hop genre question.

Went to a Lacs show in Biloxi last weekend. It sold out quickly. I have noticed a serious trend or following of these types of acts. I find some of them like Upchurch, Lacs, Smo, Demun Jones, Cypress Spring, etc... to have huge followings. They started out playing Mud Bog shows and now seem to sell out everywhere. I have to admit that I am somewhat of a fan due to the underground aspect of it. Do any of you see this as a possible serious genre in the future? The numbers don't lie on views and sales. I was raised on 80s west coast punk music and have followed numerous underground type bands from all genres. This Hick Hop seems to be the strongest trend as far as numbers go.
