Trying to get into slide guitar and was playing around with open D tuning (DADF#AD) and I'm loving it. To me, solos seem a lot easier since 3 of the 6 strings are tuned to D. And I can just put a capo on E and be in key with my harmonica.

I have a habit of video taping myself when I come up with new riffs so I can remember them later. I was looking through some earlier and found one from 2005 where I noted "this is in that weird D tuning...with 3 D's...". I got a good chuckle and now here you are mentioning it. The tuning is a lot brighter than you'd expect.

I did have to raise the action on my guitar a little. The looser strings were buzzing a little bit.
