Been some weird posts so far ("For What It's Worth" is forgotten?), figgered I'd post an actual obscurity:

The Searchers - "Four Strong Winds" -- Often-covered song written by Canadian folksinger Ian Tyson; some may know the 1970s version by Neil Young.

"Timothy" was one of my favorites! I think they were from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where my best friend comes from.

For some reason I always thought of that song and this one in tandem for some reason:

I believe Terry Jacks was actually in this group:

I was just about to post that song.

How about this one, I remember it came out while I was in college. It's as though you can hear the bed springs squeaking.

I know one Poppy Family obscurity:

Poppy Family - "Where Evil Grows"

I actually prefer it to the hit single. Somebody should give it a rough, hard rock remake.

There was at least one other song on that page that fits the subject:

Paper Lace "The Night Chicago Died"

quote:

Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes- Edison Lighthouse

I chuckle everytime I watch Reservoir Dogs and hear Steven Wright introduce this song.

A true one hit wonder:

They were some soulful white folk. I remember when the song was popular and I liked it a lot. I was thinking that they were a new MoTown group. When I saw them on some TV show (don't remember if it was "Shindig" or "Hullabaloo" or some such show) I was very surprised that they were white. Good find.
