Whats your opinion on the grammys? Do they mean ANYTHING?

Meaningless. No one even knows what they are supposed to represent. They themselves don't even know what the awards are supposed to represent. Is it for the best music or the most popular music?
1. If the award is for best music, then who gets to make this decision?
2. If the award is for most popular music, then why even have the show?

In other words, there can't possibly be a meaningful objective for the awards. I'll watch it only for the performances. I pay no mind to who wins the award. Walking off the stage with a little trophy in hand doesn't make anybody's music better.

The Grammys just don't really make much sense anymore.

They aren't consistent at all and the quality control is horrible.

They are awards given by people with actual musical expertise and not random people on the Internet

They mean nothing.

I was under the impression they were rigged.

The only thing the Grammys are good for is measuring the temperature of the record industry itself. The Arcade Fire winning is important not because of any claims of quality, but that the major music companies essentially noticed indie rock exists. It showed how weak the majors have become.

But actual quality? It never has meant anything. Rolling Stones? No Grammys.

Yes, how else would I brag about my favorite artists vs someone's favorite?

I should clarify... no Grammys for the rolling Stones, but the did award two to the remaining husks in the 90s. Honoring the Stones solely for Steel Wheels is somehow worse, and pretty much sums up the Grammys in a nutshell.
