Got my first bass yesterday...Ibanez GSR200B-WNF. I've played guitar for a while and finally decided to get into home recording, so I bought this inexpensive bass. So far I am really liking it. Decent sound, no frett buzz and stays in tune. What more can you ask for a $229 bass ?
I bought it from Sweetwater, and they did a really good job setting it up.
Any of y'all have any firsthand experience with this bass ?
This model has a mahogany body and a maple neck, whereas the other G200 models are made of Agathis (which I think is maybe evergreen ?)

Good for you man…I will never forget my first bass…it was an old Peavey T-40, and I thought for a long time the 40 meant 40 pounds…that baby was heavy.

LOL. This one is pretty light, about 9 lbs or so.

Those babys sound amazing. Always wanted one, but never pulled the trigger.

We didn’t appreciate those T-40s back in the day. They are very solid, good sounding basses. With inflation, those prices may be a tad high, but not much.
On the OP, Ibanez makes solid stuff. Always have. The bandleader for an event band I’m in has the short scale version of that bass. I picked it up to try it out one day and didn’t realize. I was like, WTH, what is wrong with this thing?

Back in the 90’s I was in a church orchestra that toured around including Brazil. I carried a T-40 all over the place. I only checked it on the international flights. It belonged to the church and I didn’t want to risk my Precision so I carried the damn thing.

I will have to say this though: I graduated from that T-40 to a Dynabass, and eventually, to an Alembic…it pains me to say this, but those last 2 basses I mentioned made that T-40 sound like a toy. Especially that Alembic. Best sounding bass I’ve ever played until I got my Lakland 5-string in 2008. Now THAT is a great sounding bass.
