How long does it take to develop calluses? I don't think I ever played for a long enough period to do so.

Not too terribly long if you play every day for an hour or more.

I know I can put a cigarette out on my finger tip now

Also, I suck at strumming. Just wanted to vent. I feel like my fingers keep getting caught in between strings. I can finger pick wayyyy better than I can strum. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Not at first. Picking simple lines was easy to grasp early but developing fluid strumming patterns took time
