You can learn a whole lot on a $5 Hohner Bluesband available at Cracker Barrel. When you are more serious, get a Lee Oskar, about $25-$30.

When I first started I had a Hohner MS series blues harp in A. I've heard a few people say that wooden harmonicas are for more experienced players but i never had any problems. Those and the Big river are my favorite to play.
