Funny Gram/Byrds story

Just yesterday I learned that the Byrds post Crosby & G. Clark wanted a jazz pianist. Without Crosby/G. Clark they were w/o their best songwriters. McGuinn wanted to make a double history of music record which would span folk to electronic stuff. Dumb as hell idea IMO. They put out the word they were looking for a Jazz Pianist & Parsons actually claimed to be 1 & passed an audition. Rather than jazz he faked his way through some new on the scene Floyd Cramer style country piano. The Byrds bought it & that's how he got in. the rest, of course, is history.

Richard Thompson put out a double album "1000 Years of Popular Music" and it is great.

Your post would've fit snug & comfy in the Country rock thread

I heard this years ago. I love Gram and especially that era of The Byrds.
