i will still enjoy sublime's music at 50 the same as i did at 20. 311 just seems like a fad. however, Grassroots will remain a top 20 all time album for me personally i think. 311 just sounds like poo now (and have since their self titled blue album imo)
who here saw 311 play the Varsity in the early 90s? that was one hot ticket!

remember, its the band's entire body of work
Sublime released 7 albums of originals. 1 song in Billboard Top 10. It reached #1.
311 has released 10 albums of originals. 7 songs in Billboards Top 10.
Sublime did not experience major commercial success until 1996 with their self-titled third album, released two months after Nowell's death, which peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200, and spawned the single "What I Got", which remains the band's only number one hit single in their musical career. As of 2009, the band has sold over 17 million albums worldwide, including about 10 million in the U.S. alone.
311 in 1992 released the albums Music (1993) and Grassroots (1994) to moderate success. They achieved greater success with their 1995 triple platinum self-titled album, which reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 on the strength of the singles "Down" and "All Mixed Up". To date, 311 has released ten studio albums, one live album, four compilation albums, four EPs and four DVDs. As of 2011, 311 has sold over 8.5 million records in the US.
To each his own. Both bands are very good. 311 still has its original band members. It would've been awesome to have Sublime's original members together just to see what longevity would've done to them. To me, it seems like it's apples and oranges. The only common I see is the influence of reggae. Maybe I'm wrong though.
I don't know shite about music. I also believe everything I read on the internet.

311
One of my favorite lyrics...
"A place where we both can spend out saved time
Not collecting interest
Maybe the same reason we always find ourselves home bound
I've got to do some homework
The leave response we want to leave Wisconsin
For a new life a new trailer with an antenna and a porch
Of course we'll bring the dog"
Sublime is waaaaaaaaay over-rated.

This makes no sense. Sublime is horribly overrated and cool in high school. That is it. It is not good music for anyone outside of high school and maybe first couple of years of college. 311's music actually has staying power. Their first 3 albums were badass.

By who? The same type of dipshit fanboy that raves on and on about 311?
At least sublime had an incredibly gifted singer and some great melodies. Granted, not ALL of their music has aged well, but sure as shite neither has 311's

Look dude I'm no 311 fanboy. In fact they're nowhere near the top of my lists. It's just plain as day that 311 is better than sublime. Sublime has the same nirvana factor in that the singer prematurely died while at the top of his game. Granted nirvana is leaps and bounds better than sublime.
Sublime is just what it is. Fun, singalong high school house party music. They're really good at it too. But sonically, 311 > sublime and its not close. I just can't entertain an argument otherwise.
Disclaimer, I have about 4 sublime albums too so I'm not a hater.

i feel the exact opposite. i enjoy listening to sublime still. i feel like a teeny bopper when l hear 311. i knew every word of their first 3 albums, but the rest has killed them for me. beautiful disaster was the jumping off point. and them covering Lovesong was hitting a branch on the way down.
and Blur > Oasis fo sho

Yeah you can't really take this list seriously after Pac loses.
Wow.
Think about how much heavier Biggie was than Tupac. Pretty wide margin, right? Not nearly as wide as the margin between their rapping skills.
Pac shouldn't even be in the same conversation as Biggie if we're talking flow. Big made a name for himself because he was the best rapper there was. Pac made a name for himself because he was certifiably insane and made a few movies.
