For us lefty guitarists

I see there's a number of us from the "guitar porn" thread. I think we all agree that playing lefty is extremely cool, being part of a weird minority of creatives who've stubbornly clung to our natural inclinations despite the significant advantages of playing right handed (beginning with the simple availability of guitars).
Although you may already know of these, I want to share with you two sources of lefty guitars:
• Southpaw Guitars in Houston (catering more to mainstream brands)
• Jerry's Guitars in Sarasota, FL (featuring Collings, Santa Cruz, Bourgeois and other smaller brands)
Jerry's story is especially interesting. You can watch an interview of the guy on Youtube; it's pretty cool.

In. How many of us started by flipping a righty and never bothered switching the strings over? I've been playing that way since I started at 17. My axes are now made for me by a guy in Boise. Righty electrics just dont work since the knobs and switches get in the way of my shredding. Nothing like losing signal in the middle of a solo because my forearm killed a volume pot.

Damn. Now that's commitment. I started playing at age 53, way too old to think about playing right-handed, but while lefty guitars are hard to get your hands on, they're available. I have a Larravee, Taylor, Eastman and a Seagull 12-string, that's plenty enough for now.
I love my right-handed brothers, I'm the only lefty in my circle of players. But playing left-handed rules … don't know why, but it does.

Is your skinny E on the top or bottom? I stuck with the odd route becuase of the crazy bends I can pull off. I can also play some wacky chords but at the expense of struggling with others,

Bottom. I'm just a "Joe Strummer" but I love playing; have played just about every day since I first picked the instrument up 8 years ago. I've got about 60 originals and am always writing more. That's the beauty of the guitar--you can be a pretty ordinary player and still be able to write and play your own songs and get lots of satisfaction from it all.
Left or right-handed, playing guitar rules. Only sex is better--and on some nights, I'll take the guitar over the woman.
