re: Favorite Lupe Fiasco songs?

"Hip Hop Saved My Life" is the best song he has ever done. I'm about to drop a TD cliche here -- a cliche that I've been known to mock from time to time -- but I don't even think it's particularly close.

I'll say this, I saw Lupe live* when he was on tour with B.o.B. I was there to see B.o.B and at the time wasn't intimately familiar with Lupe's body of work. And "Hip Hop Saved My Life" just floored me. It was unquestionably the highlight of his set.

Slight tangent: the same rationale is why, imho, "Satellite" is B.o.B's best song. A year earlier I saw B.o.B live but was there to see Kid Cudi and in fact had no idea who B.o.B even was. I'd never heard of him. The only thing I remember from that show -- and it was B.o.B first, then Asher Roth, then Kid Cudi -- was the song "Satellite". Dude brought the house down. He was the opening opening act and he upstaged everybody. Way better than Ashher Roth. Way way better than Cudi (who just isn't a great performer). I downloaded the first of his several mixtapes the next day.


*I've seen Lupe several times since then, but this was my first.
