Was just walking through the living room where my wife had that abomination called The Today Show on. Was shocked to see that Deep Purple was the musical act.

I've never been a big Deep Purple fan but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Of course they played Smoke On The Water. Ian Gillan HAS to be getting way up there in age, but he sounded pretty damn good, as did the whole band. Kinda has me wanting to see them if they come around here.

He's still out there with that Ren Fest chick. They're in Germany right now.

Or JL, (RIP). Begging the question: who's in the band? Were Glover and Paice on stage? Or was it just Gilian and fill-ins?

With Lord dead, they currently go:

Gillian (vocals)

Paice (drums)

Glover (bass)

Morse (lead)

Airey (keys)

I have to admit, with Lord gone and absent Blackmore, this is about the best a DP lineup one can expect in 2015 - a lot better than some "classic" acts can do.

And, they'll only be around for a little while longer - father time is stalking all the great old acts.

I actually like the first lineup the best. Check out the Blackmore solo on this song, "Anthem"--it's one of my favorite RB solos. I also like Rod Evans on vocals:

So true. That's pretty solid.

Love the hell out of this performance:

The proper lineup rankings are as follows:

MK II > MK III > MK I > MK IV > MK VIII > MK VII > MK V >= MK VI
