I had read that Gilmore was auctioning it off so that maybe someone else could be creative with it. Might not happen. At least the money raised will put to good use.
I missed out getting this by only $3,999,000.

There was a guitar in that auction that had an estimated price of $300-500 so I said what the heck and bid $500. It sold for $50,000.

I knew the Black Strat and 001 would exceed estimates. The "Wish You Were Here" acoustics, the D-35 estimated at $10k to $20k - I thought, "Hell, a new one is $4k to $6k, so, maybe." But, I forgot about it and never registered.
It went for almost $1.1m.
