In what appears to be a major leak of unreleased studio material, two discs worth of sessions from the Stand Up era are in circulation.
quote:
That all changed back in July of this year, when a photo began circulating amongst the fanbase of three "demo" CDs. The conversation spilled onto the Ants Forums, and a grassroots community effort made attempts to get access to the discs. While hope was high that the discs could be obtained and ultimately spread throughout a community clamoring for unreleased Dave Matthews Band material, the thread initially ran cold and it was assumed that efforts were unsuccessful. Whether those efforts are directly connected to recent events, or if the discs made it out via other means, the community’s wishes appear to have been granted.

So it's the Lillywhite Sessions all over again?

Except shittier. Im not a huge fan of the way the Stand Up album sounds

Only that they are both session recordings that leaked. The Lillywhite sessions were songs they band worked on and played live during 2000 and by in large were heard by a large part of the fan base and were loved, so much so that when the session was scrapped in favor of Everyday, the fans were extremely vocal and eventually the songs were finished as Busted Stuff.
These songs are all from 2005-2006 and a good many of them have never been heard before. Some have already been reworked into newer songs, and some are even older songs that were reworked. These recordings are mostly Dave and Mark Batson with very little of the other members involved.

Looks like less than half are "never heard before", many/most have been toured as named or re-worked to something else. Halfway curious on them but also wonder if they were scrapped for a reason.
That said, plenty of what Dave has not liked, the fans wanted, and vice-versa.

Sugar Will from 2004 show at Golden Gate Park is great, but it's more recent versions I find to be just awful.
On other hand, Hello Again from that same show is really good, and it was strong on this summer's tour too, was glad to get it at Austin show in May.
