Bruce Springsteen needs to hang up the guitar

Flipping through channels and I see he's playing on CNN. Damn, this is just awful. That one white girl in the back looks like she's contemplating suicide.

I understand not all folks can like the same music, and some folks don't like his political stands, and he's from an older generation.

I prefer my entertainers to entertain. Keep all the political crap to themselves. I want to hear/see 10th Avenue Freeeze Out and Yellow Ledbetter - keep your Obama campaign garbage to yourself Bruce and Eddie.

I used to like him when I was a young liberal and he was a young liberal. I grew up politically, The Boss still drinking the Kool-Aid. It's a shame that entertainers can't just entertain us without spouting their political agendas, regardless of party affiliation.

Political partisanship aside, I agree. I'm actually voting for Obama (okay, okay, take it to the poli board!
) but don't want to hear it at the concert, for EITHER SIDE, agree or disagree. That's why Madonna got booed last week in N.O.--then she tried to sugarcoat it by just saying to go vote. Bruce doing an appearance FOR Obama? Fine, chat it up.
Bruce at a concert with folks paying $100 a ticket? Tell your regular stories (and the man DOES know how to do that!) and play your music, but leave the partisan politics backstage.
That being said, I have to hand it to him at Jazz Fest this year. I watched that set with two close friends who are NOT big Boss fans and are conservative Republicans. They were scared of hearing him go off on a political rant. He did nothing of the sort, and they left feeling like they saw one of the greatest sets by a performer they'd ever seen. This is what folks who judge his "raspy" singing don't understand--the man performs and communicates to a crowd like few can.

Bruce is a legend but I don't deify the dude like a bunch of his fans I've known do, and when an artist puts his polis SO far out in front it's like a stranger wanting to throw their underwear in with your laundry.

Springsteen is an example of someone who made the bigtime, and has now become part of the music 'darlings' of the music world. Never understood why he became so big, some of his stuff was ok, and I did see him live in the mid-70's, but again, never really liked his albums. Today, he just needs to give it up...he has shot his wad and nothing else to add, except his shitty political beliefs...

Sorry you don't like him, but your opinion is not fact. He's the most amazing performer still today. You qualify it by saying you saw him in the 70's, but so what? And funny that only political beliefs you tend to disagree with are "shitty", ain't it?
