Against my better judgement, I started a Lennon birthday thread over on tOT and it went over like a fart in church.

His politics aside(and he leaned much more right by the time he died), I've never understood the hate the guy gets. Yes, I know he wasn't the best human, far from it, it's still weird.
I finally got around to posting my screed in support of you over there. Check it out.

W/Delbert McClinton & Bruce Channel. Paul & Delbert seem to have switched jackets

I have never been able to confirm whether this was their last gig in black leather, before Brian got them into matching suits.

That's a yearly OT tradition. I especially enjoy Terd's posts about how he was the least talented musician of all time.

Every Dec 8 someone will post a thread w/the title telling how on this day we lost a musical giant, then inside it's about Douchebag Dudley or whatever his name was.

I did not know this.

The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the first rock album to have lyrics printed in the album.

There's a massive list of "firsts" authored by the Beatles. Perhaps this one will blow your mind as well: the very concept of the "album" was invented by them in the first place! It was their 2nd album - With the Beatles - which featured a very deliberate "artsy" type of cover, which was new.

"The End” features the only drum solo recorded by Ringo with the Beatles and comes in at a succinct 25 seconds.

His solo on "The End" was recorded with twelve microphones around his drum kit.
