Pantera wannabes who I really can't stand

I haven't kept up with their newer stuff but I always thought they were Metallica wannabes, at least back when I tried to get into them and couldn't. M Shadows or whatever his name is has a voice that I just can't stand to hear. He's one of those examples to me where he does everything right, hits the notes, has the distortion, but it's his actual voice that I can't stand.

James Hetfield is an example of someone who isn't the greatest singer, but whether distorted or clean, his actual voice is full and just sounds good

I love the Waking the Fallen album. Albums after that one have a cool sound, but I preferred his voice before he busted it. I saw them at HOB once before Rev died and it was awesome. Met them at a bar after and they were really cool.

Likewise…had to be ‘07 or ‘08…six months later I saw them headlining at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. They blew up fast.

People who say anything Avenged put out after Waking the Fallen sucks are just new-aged versions of post-Justice Metallica haters (but they're more wrong)

I'm legit shocked they are so well received here, even though some forums I go to would call it "butt rock", I at least give everything a chance but AS did nothing for me.

As long as you aren't just a cheap copy, idk whats wrong with wanting to emulate other good bands. A7X definitely have their own sound and vibe IMO but there is a Pantera influence.
