That Pro-ject will likely be my next table when I get one. It gets great reviews. Which record pucks are you using? I got one and I like it but its too tall for my dust cover to come down when im using it.

It's called the Puck It and it is made by Pro-Ject...$89 at Music Direct.
The one on the VPI is part of the center weight/peripheral ring clamp combo (that is the large steel ring that goes around the outer edge of the LP--about 5 lbs!)...it is the best audio LP invention made as it really nulls any and every bump or warp in an LP.
The platter has a tiny notch cut out around the rim so the ring clamp can "hang" on the edge.

15% off all vinyl in-store at Urban Outfitters.
I picked up the Forrest Gump OST reissue on Red/White/Blue vinyl.

Thanks for the heads up I didn't know they had released that yet

I inherited my grandmother's 1952 record player. It looks something like this, and it still plays! Hearing "License to Ill" coming out of it was pretty cool!

That is a nice piece of furniture. Post a pic of what's inside.

Hope you replaced the cartridge/needle on that thing. Has the potential to ruin your vinyl.

That is a pic of something similar. Currently I am sitting in an empty condo bc I just moved to Naples, FL from Baton Rouge and my stuff isn't here just yet. I wish I could remember the brand. But it is an awesome piece of furniture. Amazing how they used to make things that lasted.

Do you have info on this receiver? JVC R-X370V.
I found it still sealed in my mom's storage locker while I was looking for my dad's old Onkyo record player (didn't find it in all the clutter, will try again when we move all the stuff in a couple of weeks).
Wondering if this will suffice for now as a receiver for my (future) U-Turn Orbit and, if so, do I need anything else to get it up and running?

Oh, for sure! My wife and I saw a few of these at a local antique mall at pretty good prices (around $200-300) in great condition. Would be nice for a talking piece but I don't think I have the motivation to renovate/fix it up to play them.
I did find this and think it's an amazing cabinet for a vinyl rig to sit on/in:

Does it have a phono input on the back? If so, it should be good to go with the orbit, if not, you will need a phono pre amp

I believe so. This is what I saw on the back. Sorry for the cellophane in the way; I didn't want to unwrap it just yet.

Yep you should be good man, those older receivers typically had a built in phono pre amp because they were made when records were still the most common way to listen to music. Try it out and if it is still too quiet when you play the record or it sounds like it has a humming sound, then maybe look into a phono pre amp.

Glad to see the young guys buying vinyl - all my vinyl (which thankfully is in great condition) was bought when that was all that was available. I keep my system up because I have a lot of out of print jazz and rock obscurities.
I use my old Bang and Olufsen system:
The turntable is rock steady with excellent performance. The other items have aged.
Amp
RL 45 speakers (which I've had to work on and which have not aged well)

I just took the plunge and ordered a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. The only vinyl I have is a collection of about 200 45 singles from the 80s that I've had since I was a kid. They haven't been played in at least 25 years.

I don't think you will be disappointed with that turntable. Have you gone to a record store at all lately?
