I've been searching for an e-drum set with mesh heads.

This one (Guitar Center link) seems to be reasonably priced, with some good reviews online.

I like that it has mesh heads to the wife doesn't bitch about the noise. I like that it's foldable and storable if we need to make room.

I'm not looking to be Neil Peart here. Just something I can jam on with the kids in my family who are musicians.

I have a Roland. Alesis is a pretty good brand name. Good thing about e-drums is they hold their value really well, so if you need to sell it, you could get your money back. Does it come with an amp, or do you have one?

I think I would have to buy an amp for this set. Haven't gotten that far into it yet.

I used to have a Yamaha DTX set. The heads really aren’t that loud unless you’re playing late at night while people are sleeping. It was pretty fun to play. Only drawback I remember is that the high hat wouldn’t trigger if hitting too rapidly.

Additionally, you can play with headphones if you’d rather go ampless.

I have that set up. It’s pretty good. I had to replace the kick drum pad because the one it came with could not accommodate my double kick pedal.

I have a Roland TD25KV that I bought about 8 years ago and I love it. Play it daily. I have a nice amp but the truth is I pretty much only use my headphones. They sound amazing.

Oh and a hint is, buy a second kick drum pad and use a splitter to plug them into the input, that way you can have true double kick drums. I did the same thing with my floor tom so I have 2 off the same input, one in the regular spot and one next to my hi hat.

I'm left handed but you can see what I did w/ my 2 kicks. And in the second pic I put strut w/ Ubolts so they never move.

They sell different kick drum pads for it?

My son has that kit, and I play it as well. It’s solid, especially for the price. It is not amped (he just uses his for practice with headphones, and it fits easily in his room whereas his regular kit is loud and too large).

I assume there is an output if I wanted to add an amp.

Yes all modules have an amp out. I added pics above, those struts really help the kick pads not move at all.
