Anyone Become Disillusioned by the Music Scene Only to Return Later?

I've been generally disenchanted with the music industry for probably 10 or so years. Here or there an act would pop up that I'd be drawn to, but for the most part I listened to older acts that I enjoyed and viewed the musical landscape as a wasteland of stale music... until recently.
I haven't been this pumped about music in a long time. At 36 I get absolutely giddy at the prospect of discovering and attending the many, many new acts popping up there--almost like a teenager again.
A list of some of my favorite new acts (probably won't be as "new" to many of you as they are to me):

Probably during the 00's... Only a handful of bands had my interest... But I just went back and mined through old stuff, some of which was in my own collection...
Last decade, really brought on the pussyfication of indie rock and I hated it for the most part... The dark years, so to speak..
Alt country became retread and boring...
Last couple of years I'm finding things I like again...
Edit: I'm sure there are good bands I missed during that period, but the internet/downloading really has taken the fun out of finding new bands.... Just way too much garbage to sift through

Agreed. The last time I was this into music was during the mid-'90s. I remember sitting in the used cd shops all day sampling new music. Then the music industry unloaded so much garbage into the marketplace that it became impossible to sift through everything.

I have sung their praises here a few times but never got much reaction on them. They restored my interest in music back in 2005. I have enjoyed watching this band grow musically and stylistically over the years. One of a few bands that has gotten better each album and didn't blow it's wad on their debut and fade into obscurity as so many do.

Other newish bands with pretty good debut albums I am hoping will have good follow ups are Morning Parade (synthy) and Young the Giant (rockish). They both have what to me is a must for any band...a great live sound.
