I think that will probably be fine for basic speech, podcasting, gaming, etc. It may hold its own (considering the price), with a very simple acoustic guitar/vocal arrangement like a ballad or folk song.
But, the increase in capability the little Presonus, Focusrite or equivalent boxes that allow direct instrument connection and attachment of real studio microphones, for a relatively small increase in cost are your clear intermediate to long-term solution. I mean, those are miniature recording studios compared to your USB mic.

I have all kinds of recording stuff at home, But I drive a truck for a living, and am looking for the best way to record ideas that I get when I am away from home.
It really seems that I get my best rhythm ideas when I am driving. Then it gets lost before I can get a good recording.

I agree, I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 at home and have never had a complaint.

Are you going to plug this into a laptop?
The little Focusrite or Presonus interfaces are the size of paperback. Other than you would need an A/E guitar, it wouldn't be any more mass to record guitar.
You would need a mic to record vocals through the interface, but that's it.
I'm not trying to shite on your purchase. If you're just trying to get demos down to re-record later, you might be okay with it, but the thing isn't designed for music. It's designed for speech.
Good luck with it, baw.

Yes. In a small space in my sleeper, that isn't ideal for lots of stuff. I have to have the laptop with me anyway, and using my parlor guitar.
Will re-record at home, if it is something that is worth doing, but want to get the initial vocal/rhythm idea down, that's when it is usually best. While you are in that certain frame of mind.
I don't really need it to be a great recording, as long as I can keep the vocal and guitar kind of balanced as far as volume goes. Just to keep the jist of it.

I don't see how you're going to control that except in positioning the microphone within the space.
I guess you're committed now -
1. Great
2. Okay
3. Insufficient
I'm not creative enough to see a third option. Scientific method, baw.

Yeah..I only have a slide out tray that is about 16'x24" and is meant to be a writing surface when sitting on the bunk. I have been trying to use a Tascam dr-05 recorder, but never can get the balance that I want. Hoping that I could find a way, having the extra placement capabilities plus the extra distance that you get from the USB cable and the adjustable stand to make it work better. Was just asking from anybody that has actually tried it.
It didn't cost all that much, and my shop is crowded with failed experiments that cost a helluva lot more.
It's all relevant to the way we keep on trying, I damn sure aint afraid of failure, I've always learned something from it.
