Any Ten Years After/Alvin Lee fans out there?

I'm a fan, although they're not one of my all-time favorite bands. I wonder though why Alvin Lee never got quite the Guitar God worship that Clapton, Blackmore, Trower, Knopfler and other have received. I'd be interested in opinions …

Alvin Lee could play fast, but he never had the same level of originality, or distinctiveness, in his play that elevates one to Guitar God status.
