These guys were in HS (Louisville) at the time of SB and went off in directions to create some of the most influential post-rock of the late 80's/early 90s

pioneers of slow-core and math rock...

Bitch Magnet
Seam
Slint
Codeine
Bastro
Gastr del Sol
King Kong
Tortoise
Palace

Squirrel Bait and Brain Damage are two of my fave bands from that area. Brain Damage became Mrs Frazier and they used to open up for my band (Govt Cheese). I saw Squirrel Bait many times at Tewligans, Uncle P's and the Red Barn out on UL campus.

You also forgot to add that one of the members went on and joined the Breeders and changed his name.

Actually, just saw this article on the Village Voice about Bitch Magnet LINK

Even in this era of Every Band That Ever Existed Must And Will Reunite, the return of Bitch Magnet is surprising, a bit shocking, really -- as if a Mars space probe long given up for lost somehow found its way back to Earth.

Damn, I wish I was in NYC to see this last show... Indie Rock just cant compare these days..

Some of my fave bands were Necropsy, Hopscotch Army, Exploding Veils and Oblong Box. That was a great scene during the late 80s and early 90s. I am truly surprised more bands or artists didnt make it bigger.
