I hesitate to post new music here because this seems to be more of a “nostalgia” board, but occasionally people (including myself) complain about how difficult good, new stuff is to find. Came across this band while scrolling through Sterogum’s top 50 albums of the first half of the year. I’ll use their write-up:

quote:

For their self-titled LP, LA’s Cryogeyser gloriously fine-tune their balance of shimmering dream-pop and wound-prodding grunge. Moments of self-acceptance crystallize as Shawn Marom’s vocals cut through clouds of anxious distortion. They easily fit into the lineage of magical, sepia-toned guitar music — Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, and the Cranberries — with a sunshower sound, helmed by drummer Zach CapittiFenton’s production, that feels like a small miracle. “My love language is crying in the shower,” Marom reveals on the closer “Love Language.” Cryogeyser feel exactly like that: an emotional rinse and an intimate surrender. —Margaret Farrell

They seem alright. Not forging any new ground or anything nor anything I'd really listen to anymore. Their sound makes me think of a shoegazish Mew.

Did you check out the LULU Suicide thread I started on here a little while back?

Yes, I did. I listened to one track, liked it, then forgot to revisit.

I dig it, but I enjoy this genre. Like shutterspeed said, it's been done before and it's reminiscent of shoegaze, but it's not bad.

Not bad. Love the heavy distortion. Very Hum-esque.
