This documentary explains why The B-52s were so important to the music scene.

Since you don't want me to repeat it here I won't tell the story about meeting Fred Schneider on the sidewalk after I got "escorted" out of the stadium when he was playing his guitar by himself. I walked up to him and stood right next to him while he played a few songs just for me until the rest of the members of B-52s showed up and more people gathered to listen to them. Finally so many people gathered that Fred told them to move into the park because the band was going to play some more music in the park for free.

Since you enjoyed not hearing my story about meeting Jerry Garcia on the sidewalk outside the Toronto Festival Express concert so much I'm not going to tell you the story about being friends with magician and comedian Harry Anderson when he was a street performer in San Francisco. He was a good street magician and also did 3 card Monty to rip off the tourists.

One morning I saw Harry sitting on a curb next to a bus stop drinking a bottle of Jack Daniel's. I walked up to him and asked him how things were going.

He said, "not very good because I got punched in the nose last night by an angry tourist who I tried to rip off playing 3 card Monty." He said as soon as he finished his bottle of Jack Daniel's he was hopping on the next bus and going to LA.

I sat down next to him and said since that's the case I'll help you finish the bottle so you can leave sooner. We both laughed and finished the bottle of Jack Daniel's then Harry jumped on the next bus.

That was the last time I saw Harry until I saw him on The Merv Griffin Show.

I like to think that if I hadn't helped Harry finish that bottle of Jack Daniel's he would have been too drunk to make it to LA.

However, since you don't want to hear that story I won't tell it to you.

Here's a video of Harry on The Merv Griffin Show.

I had to go back and read the other B-52s thread to understand what the hell is going on here. Quite the odyssey.

Wait until you hear his story about being the M.C. for The Dinah Shore Show and giving Bowzer from Sha Na Na a handy in order to get them to perform "A Teenager In Love".

That isn't me who is claiming to have done those things.

It is Hap Shaunessy from The Red Green Show who is claiming to have done those things.
