An Appreciation of John Fogerty.

Somewhat overlooked in the 60's Rock Pantheon. In my Exposure, in 1968-1970, I thought CCR was truly from a Swamp Unknown, and had a Natural "Gris-Gris". Eerie Cuts of "Run Through The Jungle", and, "Tombstone Shadow", and "Cross-Tie Walker" made me feel that they were "True Voodoo".

I'm a fan of John Fogerty for his solo work and his work with CCR. For some reason, I always associate his songs, as well as CCR's songs with the Vietnam War. I guess it's mainly because their peak was during the Vietnam era, as well as their song "Fortunate Son" being probably the one song people most associate with Vietnam.
I really like his singing voice, it is very unique. I still think that it's hilarious that he was sued for "plagiarizing" himself, I mean, is that even possible? I think the suit was dismissed, which is no surprise! But anyway, great singer/song-writer.

There's not much difference, as CCR was his backing band. He wrote and arranged all their music, except the other members contributed songs on their final album.

Even better, he played the two songs in court, and the jury found in his favor.

And an outstanding, tasteful guitarist and all-around musician. The man is a genius. His songs run the gamut from happy to wistful to angry to forboding to rocking to grooving to you name it, and his lyrics are full of wonderful imagery and typically are as thoughtful as they are instantly accessible. And of course, the man can cover the hell out of a song.
