Anyone go to this show?

coleman williams band (hank III's son) and tejon corner street thieves opened and both were excellent.

tejon corner street thieves "whiskey" (not in nola)

amigo the devil crushed it. second time seeing him perform and he was even better this go around. for a solo performer with an acoustic guitar or banjo he's probably the best ive seen. total command of the crowd and the stage. definitely the most charismatic performer i've seen in recent memory. the entire show was sing along and the crowd was PUMPED up to sing back to him.

here's a video of him performing a few days ago: dahmer does hollywood

is "dark folk" a genre? if it is I guess that's what you could use to describe his sound. anyone else a fan?

I was there, with a couple other old-timers.

Show was excellent - all 3 bands. I actually went mostly to see Tejon Street Corner Thieves and hadn't heard of Amigo. I was surprised by the line outside well in advance of the show - he's got a dedicated following.

Tejon's latest video is a hoot - loosely based on truckers going to heaven Love's Pilot. Chatted with the lead singer a bit afterwards. Very laid back as one would expect for a very big guy with English beard and tats.

Amigo was great as well - whether on acoustic or electric guitar or banjo. Touching lines like "I hope your husband dies" in his love song, and people who "treat the 10 commandments as a bucket list." Great but dark songwriter.

Hogs for the Cause should give each of them a look, though Amigo may be a bit too out there for a family festival. Personally I'd see them all again.

it's insane that the husband actually died IRL what an odd story

apparently they have. we'll see what happens. tejon street corner thieves was one of the most fun bands i've ever seen live. and with no drummer. that crowd was AMPED up before amigo the devil came on definitely brought some energy to the room.
