quote:

This stirring documentary follows numerous visionaries in healthcare including social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music’s ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. Rossato-Bennett visits family members who have witnessed the miraculous effects of personalized music on their loved ones, and offers illuminating interviews with experts including renowned neurologist and best-selling author Oliver Sacks (Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain), healthcare visionaries Dr. Bill Thomas, Dr. Al Powers, Naomi Fiel, and musician Bobby McFerrin (“Don’t Worry, Be Happy”).

An uplifting cinematic exploration of music and the mind, ALIVE INSIDE’s inspirational and emotional story left audiences humming, clapping and cheering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award.

I watched this Doc on Netflix this morning and was amazed at the power that music had on patients. Nice watch if you get the chance to see it.

There is no doubt that music, can take a person back to places they haven't been in years.
There are times when I will play 2 notes together,a certain way, by accident. Before I know it, I am learning and remembering melodies that I haven't heard in years. I love when that happens. Then I borrow and steal whatever I can

Now It leaves me with questions.

When I was young, and had a young family, I could only afford cheap guitars and equipment, and tried to make do,but I was never first choice for anyone's band, or even a regular jam group thing.
As a result, I would just sit around by myself, playing what I had, doing whatever I could. writing songs became important.
I was married to my 1st wife then, and sometimes, she would say" that's an amazing song" but that was about it. She isn't a dreamer.

What if I had a really great guitar back then?
