How much is this album or specifically Kanye hated on this board?
It's been 8 years since 808 and Heartbreak was dropped by Kanye and I still find myself listening to the entire album once a month.
I know it's auto-tune, can't be classified as rap/hip-hop or as pop either. But for me, this album is the line in the sand where Kanye went from an up and coming rap artist and producer, to just a douche-bag. This being the last bit of real Kanye we would ever get. And IMO his music has gotten progressively worse since 808s and Heartbreak.

Following the release of his third studio album Graduation, the remainder of 2007 and the following year featured events that profoundly affected Kanye West. On November 10, 2007, West's mother Donda West died due to complications arising from cosmetic surgery involving a tummy tuck and breast reduction procedure.[3] Months later, West and fiancée Alexis Phifer ended their engagement and their long-term intermittent relationship, which had begun in 2002.[4] At the same time, West struggled to adapt to his newfound pop star status he had once striven to achieve, often becoming the subject of media scrutiny. The loss, loneliness and longing for companionship and a sense of normality served to inspire 808s & Heartbreak. West stated that "This album was therapeutic – it's lonely at the top."[5] A photograph taken by Danny Clinch of West kissing his mother on the cheek was included in the album's booklet liner notes.[6]
West felt that his emotions could not be fully expressed simply through rapping, saying that aside from the fact that rapping had limitations, there were "melodies that were in me – what was in me I couldn't stop."

Say what? MBDTF is his magnum opus and that came right after. And I definitely like the new album more than 808s.

MBDTF is definitely legit.
The new album is....okay.
But 808s is an crossover in his music style, the others are all pretty similar.

As much as I dislike his music, I will say that the hook on "Heartless" is very catchy.

I love 808s. Probably one of the most influential albums in hip hop culture in recent memory.
