I'm making a cross country move soon and I want to make sure my vinyl survives the trip in one piece. I've been looking online for boxes that I can pack them in for safe travel/shipping. I have Prime so I would prefer to order them from Amazon so they will arrive in a day or two and I can begin packing them up.

Please post a link for me to check out if you have a suggestion. I would greatly appreciate it.

Others that have experience with this - got any advice for this situation?

I just used regular packing boxes you can get at the storage facilities.

Try 4,000 albums to Seattle and back to Texas in a year. They will get a little beat up around the edges but am glad I wasn't lifting and hauling those up and down the stairs..they get heavy quickly.

I've seen the heavy duty small boxes from Uhaul (16-3/8" x 12-5/8" x 12-5/8") mentioned multiple times as being really good for vinyl. They're only $1.64 apiece so I guess i'll grab a couple of them tomorrow and see how they are. I'd love to get away with something that cheap, because these cross country moves get costly.

I ordered this from the Container Store recently, shipping was free:
Really Useful Box Large Vinyl Record Storage Box Clear 17-1/4" x 15-1/8" x 14" h
Color: Clear

The size I ordered holds 90 albums. These are stackable and heavy duty.

Make sure when you pack them that they are tight in the box. They don’t need any movement at all. Don’t skimp on the boxes or packaging. Cut a corner somewhere else if you need to.

The cardboard boxes from uhaul/home depot/lowes work for storage but aren't stackable. The sides start to give at some point and are only good for short term storage. If you aren't dealing with expensive vinyl you can use cardboard and stack on top of other things. If moving valuable vinyl, I would go with something like the Container Store boxes, they are bomb proof.

milk crates have always been the GOAT vinyl storage options. just have to steal them from the back of convenience stores when they put them out for pickup. at least this is how I got all mine back in the 90s and 00s. are milk crates still a thing?

ETA: just looked and you can buy them on webstraunt store, amazon and other places. they are the absolute perfect size, extremely durable and easy to grab and transport.

Milk crates. Vinyl is tougher than you think. I have about 300 albums from the 70s that have been through all of my moves.
