Most of my favorites hav already been mentioned.

South Park: B,L,&U
Grease
Willy Wonka (if that counts)
Little Shop of Horrors
Sound of Music
Wizard of Oz
Mary Poppins

If the Disney films count, then a lot of those for me as well:

Lion King
Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Beauty and the Beast

I'd count it. That;s another good one.

I'd consider any movie where they bust out in song but people go on about their business to be a musical.

I've only seen it on stage. It's very popular with younger groups.

That's not quite the same. People sing in movies all the time. By this definition Back to the Future could be a musical.

A good musical number is when it adds something to the scene and move the story forward. Like it is part of the script.

There are plenty of musical #'s in musicals that don't accomplish this. I was really just putting that out there.

Ferris Bueller with a microphone singing to an audience is not the same as Willy Wonka singing a song as a way to introduce his guests to his factory.

Both Charlie and his mother have solo #'s also. where they sing to themselves. Does Ferris Bueller have that?

Is Blues Bros not a musical? Wizard of Oz? The Music Man? They all have the same elements.

yes he sings in the shower but no words come out

I am protesting Willie Wonka as a musical more than I am championing Ferris Bueller

Let this serve as my official notification of such protest
