Doesn't look like an adaptation.

Keep in mind, The book has sold less than 2 million copies (in various forms). This movie is obviously produced for the mass population of "TL;DR" variety.

Pop-corn flick with a popular book name.

ETA: I bet over 50 million people will pay to see this movie in the theaters... and Blue-ray sales will be huge. Unfortunaetly, Hollywood cares very little about keeping to a story and more about $$$.

it's a zombie movie not a fricking oscar style movie

I saw some "segment" on this. Im intrigued. Didn't read the book. But the in-depth trailer i saw looks better than the one in the thread

It looks like an absolutely shitty zombie movie. Cartoon zombie horde and Brad Pitt flying around in helicopters

It's not WWZ so why call it that.

I'm about tired of the zombie genre anyway.

Should have made the zombies giant ants instead and just called it 'The Attack of the Giant Ants' and the giant ants could just run around and swarm and bite people in half and maybe bite off Brad Pitt's head.

So you think it will make north of $500 million at the box office?

Name your price and I'll bet you.

not sure what your point is here? You think only oscar style movies draw in the crowds?

Hell, Taken 2 has pulled in $125 million so far. That movie is far from oscar style. World wide, it's pulled in over $210 million. An average ticket price of $10 /each - that means 21 million people have seen that crap. BTW, $10/ticket average is high - current average is just over $8/ticket.

50 million people will go see a Brad Pitt flick. Numbers aside -- my point wasn't to debate how many people will go see it. It was more about what is important to hollywood.

World wide, very likely. Could I be off by $50 million or so, sure. This will be a horrible, but popular movie. And like I said earlier, my point wasn't to say I think this is going to be a good movie. Nor did I intend to get into a bet on if the movie will generate $500 million at the box office. But, if you want to bet... ok, I'll place a case of Shiner Black up for wager.

My thoughts exactly about the Bourne series. Why do film makers do this?

I like that the zombies move in huge numbers that can be overwhelming.

They're moving in herds.

They do move in herds.
