That's a fair point.
However, the Judeo-Christian allegory gets stretched to the limit if the "serpent" doing the temptation is still actively an agent of God rather than a disgruntled former employee.
Of course, I read the film as strongly Calvinist, so that might all work out from an internal logic standpoint.

Charlie finds the golden ticket and the crowd gathers and he is told to run home. Slugworth startled him to makes the offer. Then Charlie runs home. Charlie was chosen and tested. The rest of the kids were selected to show Charlie all the traits Wonka did not want. Each other kid represents the 7 deadly sins, hubris, gluttony, greed, etc…
Wonka said when Charlie he had to test him and he knew he would win. He tells him in the glass elevator that he was looking for a child to give the factory too.
