What is the difference between a live action movie/show and one that’s not?

I never get it when someone says love action.

Is Rise of Skywalker considered live action? If not, why?

It pisses my off when they call the Lion King remake and similar cgi amalgamations "live action"

Live action features living actors on screen as opposed to some form of animation. Yes Star Wars is fricking live action...

Live action is only used when they make a remake of an animated movie that will not be animated.
