This did happen in the book. Also, in the book, the trio came back to shore every night and hunted for the shark during the day.

Jaws is and always will be my favorite movie of all time. No movie terrified me, fascinated me, and thrilled me more than Jaws. It literally caused me to be scared of something for an entire lifetime something no other movie has come close to doing.

The shark would probably work all the time...thank you CGI and advanced robotics.

Quint would have to be Mickey Rourke.

I really think Daniel Day Lewis would be a perfect Quint. Earlier poster nailed it.
Not that I think Jaws should ever be re-made.

I could see Liam Neeson playing Quint

Hooper also died in the book. The book explains that one of the last thing Hooper sees Before he is killed is his own blood. I like the movie version better. The movie would have an R rating if it followed the book, so I'm glad they changed it bc Jaws was one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid.
And Benchley was supposed to write the screenplay, but Speilburg didn't like it so he had the guy who plays the reporter in the movie to rewrite the thing. Speilburg still gave credit to Benchley along with the other guy, and gave him a part in the movie.

I think I also remember reading something where Benchley was kicked off the set because of his constant protests over the ending of the movie being radically different from the ending in the book.

Whatever happened to that MEG movie they've been trying to make for ages? That sounded like a giant pile of shite.

Sam Worthington stars as Chief Brody. He has an extensive backstory where we learn that during his time as an NYPD cop he killed a kid on the Staten Island Ferry. Since then he has been afraid of water, and unwilling to use a gun.
