(updated) How many people has he killed or has ordered to be killed? I counted 19 but I'm not sure.

2 drug dealers ( gassed, strangled)
2 rival drug dealers (ran over, shot)
Gale via Jesse
Gus, body guard, old uncle in explosion
2 guards in lab
Mike (shot)
9 names on list in prison hit
= 20 by my (updated) count

21 if you include allowing Jesse's ole' lady to die

Am I missing anyone?

if you're gonna count Gale and the prisoners, you might as well count all the drug addicts who od'd on his meth

thats not great comparison... I get what you're saying

he consciously and specifically targeted those people for his benefit (jesse's gf being perhaps the only exception)

he doesn't force meth heads do meth

Obviously not the same. People overdosing on meth is because THEY are stupid. People dying because Walt put out a hit, die because Walt put out a hit.

I don't think putting a hit on someone is the same as actually killing them yourself. Hector deserves some credit for killing Gus and Tyrus. He wanted Gus dead as much as Walt and was willing to commit suicide for it.

That's tough to quantify. Technically, he did give Hank a heads up regarding Tio's nephews.

That could be an additional two.

(SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE SECOND SEASON)

Or, if you really want to up the count, you could say his inaction to save Jesse's girlfriend (Jane) led to an airplane crash killing 50 or so.

Hector basically served as Walter's hitman in that scene.

I have 20/21 so far.

If you wanted to REALLY stretch it out, you could blame the plane crash on Walt but not directly obviously.

You are correct. Indeed it was.

Hector had a long standing feud with Gus and wanted revenge. Killing Gus benefitted both of them equally.

That was more like 180. Walter White is the best argument yet for government death panels, and they ought to be mandatory. Down with the "cook meth and get private treatment" loophole!
