Watch the last episode of season 2, they explain it near the end.

Well right, but why do some people turn into zombies from a bite? Those don't kill you normally, i.e. Jim's bite. I can't figure out the difference between being injured from a walker vs being killed by one.
I mean, Daryl has zombie ears hanging all over his open cuts. so that can't be helpful. But then it doesnt matter because everyone already has it right? But then why do some people die because of it and some dont?

Jim turning is a plot hole. A big one.

I mean, maybe you argue that the whole digging/shoveling episode indicated that Jim had some disease or something? Maybe he got some infection and without proper medicine and rest and such he was starting to die. The zombie bite just accelerated it? Doesn't really give him being bitten any purpose though.
eta: But didn't Jenner's wife get bitten and die? Nothing makes sense!
So to make this make sense:
1. Everyone is infected.
2. The infection only kills you if you are bitten
3. Blood to zombie goo contact is not an issue, only bites.

A bite triggers the virus same as someone dying. A scratch is just a scratch.
Basically get bit or die and you turn, otherwise your just injured and slowing down the group.
Bigger question is lori carring around a zombie baby.

So is zombie saliva the problem?
I guess you can chalk this up to their ignorance at the time, but in S1E2, when rick is cutting up the zombie to put on them, they are wearing coats and gloves. And Rick says not to get any on their skin and eyes.

They didn't know much then. I'm sure they've figured out after being unable to avoid blood and gore on them that that is not how you get it.
A zombie bite kills you, the infection burns you out, you die. You turn. Explained Season 1 episode 1 by Morgan.

I think you dont want to get any in a cut or your eye direct routes to the blood stream also why i think a bite is deadly saliva getting in blood stream from a bite.

That isn't really a full explanation since everyone is already infected. That explanation makes it sounds like the bite is what infects you.
So we just have to assume that a zombie bite somehow is deadly, even though everyone is already infected and it doesnt infect you.
I mean we are kinda just making assumptions here for what could be plot holes.

I'm not trolling it just ins't explained well throughout the series because they do things that don't make sense.
Like why does Morgan give a shite if he has been scratched in Ep 1?
The show makes you make a lot of assumptions in order for everything to make sense.
1. Morgan knows bites will give you a fever that will kill you.
2. Morgan doesnt know anything else, so he is still cautious about all other wounds.
3. We have to assume he has not seen anyone who has had an encounter with a walker receiver any injury besides bites. Because otherwise he would know scratches dont kill you.
Also, at some point everyone stops giving a frick about being careful with zombie contact even though they were careful in Atlanta.
Also, if everyone is infected then why are there some dead people who dont turn into zombies?

Preconceived notions about zombies?

This "how do you get infected" argument is old as shite.
Can we talk about moats instead?

I was joking and I should't have brought them up. I was a huge proponent of the moat concept until the farm was overrun. Now I see the time and effort of digging a moat is better spent foraging for and geocaching supplies.
Team Moat is dead.

8:00 on talking dead season 3 preview, cast interviews, and set photos. 9:00 black and white episode #1.

Ears don't have saliva and there was no blood coming out of them. Morgan asked rick how he got injured.
Team moat is dead.
Team kill em all let god sort em out is now activated.
