yoda was always referred to as a great warrior because once pulled out the saber it was your arse not because he could change your mind about wanting to fight.
I always just assumed Yoda was more powerful because he could make someone's heart explode or something like that just using the Force. I felt that if like anyone came up and tried to frick with him, maybe aside from Palpatine, that he could destroy them without barely lifting a finger. Its his Force power and wisdom that was highly renowned, not really his dueling, which is why I think he never did any lightsaber training with Luke. That was more Vader's thing in the original trilogy for being a reowned duelist, and he used that to wipe out all the Jedi.

You have to remember that Landshark is the same poster who believed that every movie would be better if the Joker were a character.
Anyway, to counter some of his points, Star Wars is about the Hero's Quest. THAT is the appeal to me as an adult. As a child, it was the cools space stuff and lightsabers and blasters. But now, the overarching themes and yes, the story of the rise, fall, and redemption of the hero (with the story of the rise and fall of another hero) is the hook.

That was like one of my first posts on here 2 years ago. Time to let go and move on.

I agree with this, and as a kid, the Phantom Menace was my favorite one because it was so flashy and had awesome lightsabers and whatnot, and I'm sad to say that I found Jar Jar funny at one point. Also at the time the original was my least favorite. Now I can appreciate the substance over the style of the film and can see the films for really what they are.
George Lucas very much succeeded at the Hero's Quest in the original, but he wasn't able to that with the prequels because its more of a tragedy. The Hero's Quest is easier to do since it generally has the more generic hero, you just have to come up with a good supporting cast. A tragedy, particularly one for a character like Anakin, you need to have a much more complicated character than Luke. Luke's motives are simple, while Anakin's aren't at all since he has to betray his people completely and become a sociopathic a-hole. Lucas should have done a rough draft, had someone else write it, and surrounded himself people who challenged him instead of just sucked up to him.
