To this day, I know who shot Hamilton because of this commercial.

Remember, this aired before the internet exploded and long, long before the Broadway play.

I had no f-ing clue who Aarron Burr was before it aired and now will never forget it.

Btw, if you want to see awesome big name director commercials, check out everything by Ridley Scott, but especially his 80s stuff. The 1984 Mac commercial is his most famous, but his Barclay's Blade Runner advert is stunning. LINK

Extremely complex figure in history.

A VP who was behind a plot to sever a huge chunk of the USA from the young country.

And that's just part of the story.

same that’s actually where this thread came from.

Side note: is it just me or were ads much better in the 90s?

Ads used to be creative little films that made you want to buy or at least think about the product being sold to you.

Now ads, but especially telvisision commercials, appeal to emotional women and children. They've abandoned the male demographic, instead targeting the man's household to annoy him into buying their shite product.

Cologne commercials are still really good, as are the Lincoln McCoughnahey stuff, even though they're strange, they're at least effective and evocative.

The last really great commercial I remember seeing was this British Airways advert. LINK

Early 90's beer commercials were the last bastion for that.

MGD Gator

Bowling - Horse

Drink MGD get hot chick

You will never ever ever see those machismo get girl ads again.

The 80s beer commercials were great, too, but I especially loved especially the old Michelob "night" commercials. The whole vibe and marketing was perfect..ot was part Miami vice and part Duran Duran music video. LINK

I believe Kubrick was even a huge fan of these. He would have football games taped for him and sent to England for him to watch way later. He had no idea who'd won.

I seem to remember him commenting once in an interview how great some of the American commercials were, specifically pointing the Michelob ads.

I don’t think I even knew Hamilton had been killed in a duel until this commercial. I was very young, however.

Yeah I was about 6 or 7, but most of the spots did do a great job of making you want a cold glass of milk

I also never realized the milk mustache “got milk?” campaign was a completely different organization

It’s weird, nowadays they only advertise to the interracial couple, gay couple, and people who might get their house broken into by a white buy demographic

they just seemed to have better humor then, even a little dark at times.

Now most seem to try and pull at emotional strings
