I mean, there was more action, if that's what you want.

I thought unexpected journey was pretty solid though

it isn't boring at all. The problems for me was around it was to little of book to put into long movie.

I want to reset it before I give my judgment again

I don't need action, i'm not one of those that need Michael Bay explosions to keep me interested. I just found the first hobbit to drag on. it really didn't entice me at all.

Haven't read the whole thread yet, but has anyone mentioned too much CGI yet?

I'm usually not one of these people at all, but the scene where Elron and Soluman are fighting the Nasgul was awful for me.

It looked terrible. The Nasgul looked like clear ghosts. And I know that's probably what they were supposed to look like, but it just looked horrible.

I also want to add the horrible little dude (Alfred) running around making all the jokes in the middle of battle was totally out of place.

And the part where Thorin came to himself was stupid to me. It was just stupid how he came to himself.

Upon initial viewing, this was my least liked PJ film in the Tolkien universe. It wasn't bad. It's just I was expecting so much more.

First time I've ever walked out of a LOTR/Hobbit movie thinking that it wasn't what I expected. The more time I've had to digest it, the more I find myself disappointed with it. I kept waiting to be blown away and then the movie ended.

Not a bad movie, just not the great spectacle I was hoping for.

Also, there were probably 6 people in my theater. I expected more people considering it was opening night and it was playing on 3 screens. Most of the people who showed up were laughing at the battle scenes towards the end.

Sounds awful, which should have been expected.

Sounds about like I expected. It seems that the Hobbit series has been geared much more toward children than adults.

One thing I've noticed in this thread, and also in most of the trailers, is that no one mentions Smaug

Is he still in the movie (until he dies obviously)

Hated how Thorin rediscovered himself.

Yeah I didn't like that scene. Was kind of trippy

Hated how this band of a couple hundred men with pitch forks is able to hold off this massive and well armed orc army the entire movie. (It was like they took the same type of people who are easily getting killed in Helms Deep and make them super humans.)

I don't remember them showing the humans that much. It was more of the elves and dwarves cleaning up.

Disliked the ending which seemed to drag on forever.

I thought it was fine

Disliked the fact that the creepy henchman guy was allowed to stick around the entire movie and just crack jokes the entire time.

Tried way too hard for comic relief with him. Which some of it is fine but they forced him into the movie way too much.

who are much more trained than the orcs, so it would make sense that they would be able to hold off the orcs that long. Not so far fetched.

yeah I didn't mind him to much.

To be honest, this film felt lazy. I liked Desolation and Unexpected Journey, but this was really terrible to me.

The whole thing with Azog jumping out of the ice and 3 feet in the air, ice that his fricking boulder couldn't crack instantly, was straight up cartoonish.
