I always think of this when kids are fighting over their dead parent's inheritance. The lawyers are just sitting back and stealing all their parents hard earned money.

I just rewatch The Wire to restore my faith.
Man, it's such a cynical show, but it rings true. It's really eye opening how an individual can't really make a difference in any of the systems. The adage "No good deed goes unpunished" comes to mind as does the saying "People don't think it be like it is, but it do."
At the end of the day, Avon was right all along, it's all about the game. Marlo knew that too. So did Omar. Everyone else was trying to slow or stop an unstoppable force - human nature.
The writing was great, but man if it didn't leave me a little depressed.
